Have you tried wrapping the line in quotes, like
tree: "/cygdrive/c/Documents and Settings/Valérie"
? I have no idea if that will work or not, but it's worth a shot. You
could also try the backwards compatible directory name DOCUME~1, but
again, I don't know if that will work.
