[Dirvish] dirvish & ssh rsyncd server

Greetings,

Dirvish is a great program, I fanatically want to use it to back-up our
Windows XP SP2 workstations to a Linux server.

Many troubles actually getting this to work though. Rsync initiated from
the Linux server (via Dirvish or manually) will download some files and
then lock-up, see: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2328

I can initiate rsync from Windows XP to Linux and it runs to completion.
I can also run an rsync daemon on XP and initiate the sync from Linux.

So, I got cleaver after reading:

RUNNING AN RSYNC SERVER OVER A REMOTE SHELL PROGRAM

*If rsync is run with both the --daemon and --rsh (-e) options, it
will spawn an rsync daemon using a remote shell connection.*
Several configuration options will not be available unless the
remote user is root (e.g. chroot, setuid/setgid, etc.). There is
no need to configure inetd or the services map to include the
rsync server port if you run an rsync server only via a remote
      shell program.

http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/rsyncd.conf.html

No luck here either, Dirvish exits successfully, without doing anything.
It appears that no SSH connection was made - at least rsyncd was not
started.

Does anyone have a Linux initiated backup of Windows XP working?!? Over SSH?

Even a little direction or advice would be massively appreciate,

Chris
